The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is seeking an experienced and eager Resource Specialist for the Children’s House at HUD. The Resource Specialist is responsible for directing and shaping the curriculum and teaching processes within our centers. If you are comfortable working directly with teachers, and also want to see what you have implemented played out in the classroom, this position may be for you.
- Preferred candidate will have a NAEYC background, as well as experience with Federal childcare. Though not required, having Federal clearance is a plus, as the candidate must go through the clearance process for this position.
- Must be certified in CPR and First aid, with documentation of physical examination and TB test.
- Must clear the local jurisdiction requirements for criminal background and/or fingerprinting.
- Our desired candidate will have at least two years’ experience with lesson planning and teaching strategies.
- Must have a love for children and know how to implement a curriculum, as this individual will be visiting classrooms at least 50% of the time, and working with teachers in 1-on-1 sessions. Will research and design educational materials and techniques, as well as provide training in use of these methods.
- Will be responsible for mentoring and shadowing new teachers, facilitating workshops and seminars for teachers, and provide feedback based upon observations.
- This candidate must be willing to substitute in classrooms when needed, assist with field trips, and support the goals of the YMCA and branch.
