Project Manager, Operations and Member Experience

The project manager will lead a variety of marketing responsibilities in support of strategy leads and deliver “real time” member support—executing work that is consistent and strong. The successful candidate will manage key projects for in-person and online learning and interface with key stakeholders, including call center, print center, member data, broadcast, and external vendors. Additionally, the individual will high-level support for the Director, Turnkey Operations, as well as backfill for additional staff duties as needed,

Areas of Responsibility: 

Deliverables may include:

  • Plan, manage and execute large scale online and offline marketing projects with minimal supervision. 
  • Actively participates in team projects, and manages independent special projects as assigned.
  • Deliver detailed campaign lifecycle maps, project schedules, to include dependencies, and task status through completion
  • Monitor member requests; serve as the POC for non-standard or elevated requests
  • Provide analysis of campaign performance, including optimization recommendations
  • Deliver tactical marketing plans, including projected response rates and ROI
  • Assist with budgeting 
  • Implement web content updates and edits via template site, tracking, and performance opportunities/ideas
  • Creative reviews and edits 
  • Quarterly analysis/insights decks
  • Campaign tracking codes & associated documentation
  • Project estimates, scopes, and/or charters
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of the organization and willingness to research questions and develop and execute solutions. 
  • Use sound judgment in the assessment and analysis of internal and external business factors impacting operations to ensure the successful development of appropriate strategies and options.
  • Interpret and report feedback to appropriate management. Provides counsel re: solutions and options and execute solutions.
  • Provide ongoing relationship support with delivery partners in Brand, Call Center, Email channel, and other partners who support local program data management, promotion, and execution.  
  • Supports data collection, reporting and analysis for local programs with a focus on finding improvements and implementing them.
  • Assists state colleagues in delivering locally-led marketing and promotions for Programs’ experiences, when necessary or requested.  
  • Supports a “test and learn” environment to ensure high quality programming that meets the needs of the states and 50-plus consumers and that is nimble in program delivery and support. 

General responsibilities include:

  • Possesses strong, general knowledge of multiple consumer segments’ interests and needs.
  • Recommends program execution timelines, targets and metrics; analyzes program outcomes based on program results and knowledge of objective benchmarks.
  • Regularly collaborates with other AARP departments, relevant influencers, organizations and coalitions to plan, develop, and implement key Programs.

  • Exhibits/develops strong writing and editing skills for all audiences, including professionals and influencers. 
  • Works collaboratively across Programs departments and Community Programs teams.

Educational Background: 
Associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree in business, English or marketing preferred; operations, program/product/service operations, marketing or other field related to the duties of this position
Skills/Experience: 
  • 3+ years of related experience developing, integrating, coordinating and implementing high impact initiatives, projects or in support of social programs, or a mix of education and experience pertinent to this position.
  • Strong knowledge of project management principles (PMP ideal but not required); understanding of audiences and most optimal ways to reach them to effectively impact program goals. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively internally and externally to effect positive social change; excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in for-profit, non-profit, governmental or non-governmental organizations focused on educating and informing others or that improved delivery systems and or projects/products.
  • Experience in building and managing matrixed cross-discipline teams to execute upon and deliver program goals.
