The Digital Impact Alliance (DIAL) is a global alliance formed to enable the digital ecosystem to deliver greater scale, efficiency, and social impact as it creates more inclusive digital economies in emerging markets.  Working with partners, DIAL generates evidence of what works through a series of demonstration projects, distils insights and tools to promote scale-up and replication, and provides mechanisms for knowledge sharing, collaboration, and co-investment throughout the ecosystem.  

DIAL is a donor-funded program hosted within the UN Foundation and based in the UN Foundation’s Washington, D.C. office.  The Technical Business Analyst will be an employee of the UN Foundation. 

The Project Manager, Communications will be a key member of the DIAL team, responsible for managing and implementing select marketing and communications projects and manage one communications staff member. The Project Manager, Communications will report to DIAL’s Director of Global Communications and will collaborate closely with external and internal resources, including DIAL’s Focus Area Directors, Senior Business Operations Director, the United Nations Foundation Public Affairs and Communications team, external vendors and consultants, and on joint campaigns with DIAL’s donors and other partners.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Publications, Collateral and Editorial Management: create, write, edit and manage all aspects of design and production of internal and external publications and content for other platforms, including video; ensure quality as well as messaging and brand consistency.
  • Event management: Ability to plan, produce and manage all aspects of DIAL-owned, hosted, and sponsored events, at DIAL and at external venues; and create campaigns and tie-in activities to maximize events.
  • Public Relations: manage media tracker and media list; draft and assist as needed with press releases and communications around them; produce and update internal and public-facing communications materials such as talking points and fact sheets.
  • Website and Social Media: work with the Director of Communications on the re-design and development of a new DIAL website; oversee and collaborate with DIAL’s Social Media and Website associate to develop and produce content and campaigns for delivery through DIAL’s website, blogs, and social media channels; produce online interactive events such as podcasts, webinars, and chats.
  • Campaign and Project Management: create, maintain, track and manage the communication team’s project schedules, scope, and milestones, including monitoring deadlines and sharing updates with team members; report on campaign success metrics; manage budgets, vendor relationships and invoices; oversee SMWA campaign execution and social media and website tasks; other marketing and communications projects as assigned.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Seven to ten years in a marketing or communications role, with ideally three to five years’ experience producing and project managing multiple print and online publications and marketing communications campaigns simultaneously. At least two years’ experience directly managing communications staff.
  • Must have prior experience handling or overseeing an organization’s social media across multiple channels, producing or managing production of multimedia content (including videos), planning and managing interactive productions (such as webinars and live chats).
  • Print production management experience on complex publications, developing and executing interactive and direct marketing campaigns, including email newsletters, and experience using marcom campaign management tools.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Interest in and ability to quickly grasp ICT and development concepts; prior experience in tech sector (given some b2b focus of the work) or international development will be helpful.
  • Patience and a sense of humor.
  • Ability to travel internationally up to 20% of the time.
