NRDC is seeking a Program Assistant for the Nature Program in our Washington DC office. The Nature Program’s Dirty Energy Team works on a range of issues pertaining to the protection of public lands, communities, and wildlife from the impacts of fossil fuel development. The Program Assistant will support the Dirty Energy team, which consists of several professionals, including attorneys. The position involves scheduling, administrative and legal assistant tasks, budget tracking, internal coordination amongst programs and teams, special projects, and research and writing, including blog posts and social media. The Program Assistant will regularly interact with coalition partners throughout the country and Congressional staff.
- Managing the calendars of several individual professionals, including attorneys
- Providing administrative and legal assistant support to the Dirty Energy Team, such as coordinating travel arrangements; processing contracts, invoices, and reimbursements; tracking budgeted expenses; and litigation support, when necessary
- Providing research and writing support
- Writing, editing, and proofreading policy documents, external correspondence, blogs and social media posts
- Facilitating, coordinating, and supporting follow-ups to internal or external meetings
- Executing special projects as they arise
- Strong preference for having at least one year of full-time professional or related experience working with either: Congress, the executive branch, or an advocacy organization, or exposure to legal work
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills; professional demeanor and presentation
- Superior personal organization, time management and multi-tasking ability
- Good judgment; attention to detail; teamwork; follows instruction well; can-do attitude; eagerness to learn about the Dirty Energy Team’s work
- Ability to work and adapt independently under pressure and within time-sensitive deadlines
- Experience in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
