Over the course of five seasons, NPR’s Invisibilia podcast has built a large and incredibly loyal following. Hosts Alix Spiegel and Hanna Rosin, along with a team of producers, combine unique narratives with ground-breaking research to help listeners see themselves -and the world around them - in a new way.
The ideal candidate for this position will believe deeply in the power of storytelling and non-narrative fiction. They/she/he will have a passion for engaging life’s big questions, and will thrive in a highly collaborative, creative environment.
This position is based in Washington, DC, and may require occasional travel.
- Assist hosts/producers in all elements of podcast preparation and production
- Actively engage in story-pitching and collaborative group-editing process
- Gather tape, assist with studio booking, production and mixing
- Conduct research and assist in fact-checking the podcast
- At least one-year storytelling experience, synthesizing complex narrative and intellectual story arcs
- Experience with Digital Audio Workstations (ProTools, MTE/DAVID), as well as operation of digital self-op facilities
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, under stringent timeframes and changing/priorities/conditions
- Ability to work independently, but also as a collaborative team member
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Knowledge of / interest in neuroscience, behavioral science, sociology, anthropology, philosophy
- Experience with scoring and sound-design in longer-form narrative audio production
