Accountable for the strategic oversight of the enhancement, integration, maintenance/support, and customization of all applications defined in the back-office stack across the enterprise.  Leads the product vision for the AARP PeopleSoft platform from a Human Resources (HR), Finance, and Treasury perspective, including the customer management, solution design, execution, and operations.  Leads AARP’s IT Treasury Operations Center (TOC) environment and any other critical back-office applications.  Provides increasing business value, while focusing on continuous improvement and lowering ongoing operating costs.  Develops, evangelizes, and supports the future roadmap of all ERP functionalities for AARP, as well as all other back-office applications.  Oversees a team of PeopleSoft and Treasury professionals and a managed services provider.  Works with cross-functional leaders to improve collaboration, increase cross-functional expertise, and decrease defects that lead to a disruption of business functions. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Works closely with back-office applications’ stakeholders within the business, including HR, Finance, Treasury, Payroll, the ITS Leadership teams, and a set of suppliers that directly support the applications.  Provides guidance to senior management (both business and IT) on integration, automation, and source-to-pay initiatives and strategies. 
  • Executes the AARP HR, Finance, and Treasury business strategy by maintaining a PeopleSoft FSCM, HCM, and Hyperion financial planning and analysis (including AARP’s Treasury remittance and lockbox management solutions) product roadmap that delivers intended business outcomes. 
  • Defines and manages the stakeholder communication, product vision, maintenance strategy, and roadmap to deliver business outcomes, conduct market and industry research, and develop business cases. 
  • Plans the work by developing and aligning projects within the product roadmap, including use case and user story development, feature prioritization, and backlog management. 
  • Delivers the work by continuously integrating and executing projects with a combination of technology and process within or across teams.
  • Increases adoption of the developed tools and processes through continuously improvement, including planning and conducting presentations and demonstrations, leading training and change management, developing reporting and analytics, and incorporating user feedback.
  • Manages the work by tracking and reporting actual business value, backlog, milestones, risks, dependencies, barriers, and financials.
  • Operates the environment by ensuring system security and high availability, including issue identification and resolution and monitoring.  Manages operations of production applications and oversees break fix and enhancement activities and backlogs.
  • Works with key stakeholders to make frequent and dynamic prioritization decisions based on the latest business outcomes, product analytics, product team metrics, operating costs, and customer feedback.
  • Defines, tracks, and communicates key product performance indicators, as required to inform this process and track business results.
  • Oversees performance and career management of a team of five-eight direct reports, providing design oversight and guidance (in the areas of integration, data conversions, gap analysis, configuration, and deployment) at varying levels during project execution and subsequent production support.  Strong focus on team development, supporting employee development plans to build skills and competencies maintain a dynamic and highly cross-trained team.
  • Manages the team budget and resource needs.  Works with the quality assurance/testing team to align testing resources and plans, supporting a shift to increased automated testing tools and processes.
  • Fosters collaboration and teamwork.  Pivots the team from a “project” to a “product” mindset.  Strives for rapid delivery and continuous improvement.
  • Provides input for any incident, change, or major initiative that has, or might have, a major impact on the applications.
  • Experiences translating business process changes into business requirements, into technical IT capabilities, and IT solutions.
  • Ensures compliance to contractual obligations, satisfactorily managing internal and external audit requests.
Educational Background: 
Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Financial Accounting, or Business, with an information technology focus (Master’s degree in a related discipline preferred)
Skills/Experience: 
  • At least 10 years of experience in progressively responsible IT leadership in managing complex Finance, Human Capital, Payroll and budget-related applications and systems.  Knowledge of ITIL processes is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience of engaging executives and other stakeholders to support important business decisions.
  • Multi-year experience with software development practices and processes, including technical development experience through Agile methodologies, including scrum, Kanban, and Lean UX.
  • Experience in project planning and execution, as well as economic aspects of system management and life cycle.
  • A strategic thinker focused on business value results that utilize technical solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with backlog tracking and task definition.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the product management discipline.
  • Previous application management experience in corporate systems domain, including significant experience with PeopleSoft FSCM, HCM application modules, and Hyperion Budgets.
  • Previous experience optimizing PeopleSoft applications for the end-user experience.
  • Applicable knowledge of data management and data integration technologies.
  • Experience managing performance and career management of direct reports.
  • Experience communicating detailed project status to direct leadership, appropriate sponsors, and stakeholders, including reasons why its succeeding or failing.
  • Skilled communicator; able to convey complex technical ideas in clear business language.
  • Able to influence and lead in a highly matrixed and collaborative business environment.
  • Advanced technical and business knowledge in multiple disciplines/technologies/processes required.
  • Previous successful experience implementing financial reporting software like OBIEE and Hyperion preferred.
  • Strong negotiating, selling, and organizational skills and excellent at follow-up and attention to detail -- delivering on-target results.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects and business partners, build consensus, and buy-in from partners, alliances, and internal constituents and to form strong and trusting relationships with all client contacts.
  • Excellent written, verbal, visual/presentation, and interpersonal communications skills.
  • Team player dedicated to excellent customer service for internal and external customers.
  • Ability to make consistently good decisions through a combination of analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment.
  • Strong leadership skills and proven ability to work effectively with people and teams, to gain internal respect, and to build consensus with superiors, peers, and subordinates -- contributes both directly and in a matrix environment.
