The Principal Architect, Salesforce reports directly to the VP, Enterprise Architecture & Strategy, Information Technology Service Management. The Principal Architect provides strategic leadership and oversight for the architecture, design and development of Salesforce related initiatives across AARP with a clear line of sight to business goals. The Principal Architect collaborates with teams across technology and business areas to align Salesforce initiatives to business and technology architectures, frameworks and methodologies.  Leads the development of standards, artifacts and tools and provides architecture oversight and governance.  All of these responsibilities must be executed in a practical and effective manner that supports AARP’s business goals and objectives.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Enterprise Architecture Responsibilities

  • Drives technology innovation that leverages Salesforce/partner products 
  • Directs hands-on architecture design participation on large, complex projects
  • Acts as the Lead Salesforce Architect in the AARP Salesforce Center of Excellence
  • Provides oversight and governance of technology standards and frameworks for Salesforce initiatives
  • Participates in development of Enterprise Architecture Standards and practices

Functional/Technical Responsibilities

  • Lead design and development of Salesforce related Proofs of Concept, feasibility studies, roadmap development and strategies
  • Provide leadership for Salesforce related technical design functions on assigned projects with varying size and complexity
  • Guide business/product owners with investment and budget decisions on all Salesforce related initiatives
  • Create and/or guide development of Project Architecture Document (PAD) for architecturally significant projects
  • Drive reuse of common services defined by the AARP Enterprise Architecture Principles and Frameworks
  • Influence stakeholders across the organization at all levels to consensus in asserting Salesforce related architectures
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
Skills/Experience: 
  • 10-15 years of technology experience with at least 5 years on Salesforce products and solution
  • Experience in enterprise architecture practices, frameworks and methodologies
  • A demonstrated ability to work within a team and build consensus towards a technical direction
  • Strong technical expertise in executing proofs of concept and experimentation with development teams
  • Technology delivery experience through concept, development, validation, deployment, and support
  • Product evaluation through RFI/RFP including working with vendors and internal stakeholder groups
  • An understanding of external cloud hosting providers including Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure
  • Soluton Architecture experience with projects using Agile and Iterative approach
  • Experience in deploying Salesforce products and solutions for large scale organizations
  • Development and/or systems administration experience with Salesforce related products and solutions
  • Broad understanding of the following Salesforce products and technologies
    • Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud, Sales Cloud, Force.com
    • Platform App Builder, Platform Developer
    • Data Architecture and Management Designer and Integration Architecture domains
    • Lightning Container, Lightning UX Builder, Lightning Flow including Process Builder and Cloud Flow Designer
    • Entitlement, Role Based Access Control, and Permission Sets
    • Wave and Einstein Analytics
  • Certified Technical Architect (CTA) Certification (optional)

Preferred

  • Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or MBA.
