The NRDC Action Fund is seeking a Political Director who will guide and implement its 2020 electoral program. This position reports to the Action Fund’s Executive Director and will also be guided closely by Action Fund Advocacy Campaigns and Government Affairs leaders.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Guide and manage the Action Fund’s 2020 electoral program with internal colleagues, and with external partners.
- Develop the multi-cycle electoral strategy and plan in close collaboration with Advocacy Campaigns and Government Affairs teams and the Director of PAC & Candidate Services.
- Run cross-functional processes that are efficient but sufficiently inclusive and maximize consensus.
- Work with the Executive Director and the Development Director to support fundraising for electoral programs, including through the development and presentation of proposals.
- Represent the Action Fund externally in coalitions and partner convenings and spearhead its relationship-building with partners in the progressive community.
- Interface with the Action Fund Board of Directors as needed and appropriate.
- Serve as a senior advisor to the Action Fund Executive Director on internal and external matters.
- Co-supervise a junior associate and manage consultants.
- Other responsibilities as directed by the Action Fund Executive Director.
Educational Background:
A bachelor’s degree.
Skills/Experience:
- At least 10 years of experience in campaign politics, including as a campaign manager on federal or statewide races and/or directing political programs at major national organizations.
- Successful track record of managing high performing teams and juggling multiple priorities.
- Deep experience in formulating political campaign strategies and tactical plans.
- Superior communication and presentation skills for use in settings with donors, VIPs, and partners.
- Exceptional judgment, strong work ethic, and collegiality.
- Willingness to travel >30%.
