Policy Research Analyst

Supports team project activities by helping senior staff to conduct literature reviews and write background analysis.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Engages with AARP Library, Research Center, and other internal and external resources, as needed, to get relevant information requested by senior staff.
  • Under the direction of senior staff, accesses a variety of data sources and uses appropriate methods to prepare and analyze data. Familiarity with statistical software packages   such as SAS and SPSS, a plus.
  • Assist senior staff with the development of PowerPoint presentations and other materials.
  • Supports team’s effort to disseminate and publicize reports, findings, and events through the development of tweets, blogs and other methods of communication.
  • Supports team efforts through project management activities and tasks, including scheduling, developing timelines and tracking deliverables, taking notes during meetings, following up with key stakeholders, as needed, and other activities.
Educational Background: 
Completion of a Bachelor’s degree required – Economics, Finance, Statistics, Social Science, or a related discipline preferred. Candidates should have three years or more of job-related experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop social media communications, are required.
  • Must be detail-oriented and have strong organizational skills. Some project management experience a plus.
  • Proficient in online research, Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative environment.
  • Interest in financial, economic and consumer protection issues.
