Reporting to the Director of Online Outreach, the Online Advocacy Coordinator will help support National Audubon Society’s sophisticated digital advocacy program in its efforts to address climate change.
The coordinator will help develop and execute online digital advocacy campaigns to support the organization’s climate policy priorities, including creating action alerts, crafting emails, and drafting social media posts. The coordinator will focus on climate policy work at the both the federal and state levels with the goal driving actions that support the organization's policy and engagement goals.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Write, edit, design, and produce communications for print, email, web and other channels, with a focus on advocacy.
- Provide training and support on digital systems for national, state, and local Audubon users, with a focus on advocacy.
- Assist Director of Online Outreach in defining online advocacy strategy to fulfill the goals of the organization’s five-year strategic plan.
- Work cross-departmentally with policy, climate, and network teams to help ensure action alerts and other online advocacy support organization priorities.
- Provide content to support organization’s list acquisition programs.
- Update and edit Web pages and emails using a content management system.
- Pull reports through analytics and customer relationship management (CRM) tools.
- Act as a resource for state-based staff.
- File invoices and help ensure department’s expenses stay on budget.
- Shepherd team contracts through the review and approval process.
- Provide other general administrative support as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree or 4 years relevant work experience in lieu of degree.
Skills/Experience:
- At least 1-2 years of work experience in communications, policy, grassroots advocacy or related field, preferably in a digital marketing capacity
- Avid consumer of digital media
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
- Demonstrated experience working in a team environment, as well as independently
- Very comfortable with using a wide variety digital platforms
- Willingness and experience in learning new software and platforms
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated interest in climate policy strongly preferred
- Solid written and oral communication skills with experience in storytelling preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Docs and Basecamp preferred
- Experience with CRM systems (EveryAction, Engaging Networks, Convio, etc.) and web content management platforms (Drupal, etc.) a plus
