Marketing Project Manager

Works in partnership with the appropriate department lead and management to create custom, project-level annual marketing plans for nearly two dozen provider accounts.  Embeds a project-management discipline and process within the team and liaises with marketing’s centers of excellence (marketing, data, digital, creative services) to ensure the plan deliverables are met.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Supports a business model enhancement whereby AARP Services, Inc. (ASI) will deliver proprietary marketing capabilities to select provider accounts.  Establishes and then delivers on these new capabilities.
  • Gains an understanding of the business and the scope of project management needed.
  • Creates an infrastructure of strategy, tools, and processes for project management within the team.
  • Creates and leads the discipline of project management, establishing principles and norms for the team.
  • Partners with the appropriate management to create annual project plans for all key accounts (estimated 10-20 in first year), including detailed work streams, milestones, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Partners with the marketing center of excellence leads to align on plans and resources.
  • Establishes protocols for review and completion of deliverables, as well as a measurement plan for stakeholder satisfaction and impact of work.
  • Partners with the enterprise team that is managing corporate strategy to ensure internal reporting and communication is seamless and “best-in-class.”
  • Partners with the ASI account teams to ensure project management, reporting, and communication with external providers is clear and integrated.
Educational Background: 
Completion of a Bachelor’s degree required
Skills/Experience: 
  • 5+ years of experience in business environment preferred, namely marketing, communications, agency, or a business consulting firms and 3+ years of project management experience strongly desired. 
  • Must be process and detail oriented.
  • Desire excellent written, visual, and communication skills.
  • Consensus builder -- proven ability to work in a matrix organization and gain internal respect with superiors, peers, and subordinates.
  • Team player.
  • Tenacious, results-oriented mindset.
