Leads the strategy, development, execution, and measurement of all marketing communications activities for assigned portfolio -- fundraising/development.  Develops, manages, and delivers marketing and communication strategies and collateral that builds donor audience affinity and engagement.  Conceptualizes, manages, and executes multiple campaigns/projects through a variety of channels and platforms. 

Areas of Responsibility: 

Must strive to be the expert on the wants and needs of the donor audience.  Must work cooperatively across the national office, as well as with state offices.  Must be able to prioritize work and often proceed independently.  Ability to multi-task and prioritize critical work.  Ability to understand and ensure focus on the strategic purpose of the Foundation to ensure alignment.  Ability to write communication and/or marketing plans.  Ability to successfully execute plans and various activities.

  • Works and collaborates directly with the development team and other marketing communications professionals and creative agencies to help achieve objectives for the assigned portfolio (fundraising/development) and budgets.
  • Provides strategic guidance and manages execution of results-oriented integrated marketing campaigns that drives awareness for the Foundation and aligns with program growth goals.
  • Crafts value-driven messaging, content marketing strategies, and measurements that resonate with a donor audience. 
  • Drafts, manages, oversees, and measures the execution of communication plans for assigned portfolio.
  • Builds strong and engaging collateral suite and other assets that align with the Foundation brand and core messaging, including but not limited to, annual reports, brochures, reports, flyers, direct mail, ad copy, press releases, web copy, social media posts, video content, e-mail promotions, etc.
  • Identifies gaps and leverages cross-enterprise and/or other promotional opportunities to achieve established goals.
  • Determines the most effective mix of customer-facing events, public and media relations, thought leadership initiatives, social media, and digital tools, with an emphasis on video to achieve development and fundraising objectives.
  • Collaborates with in-house designer and/or manages external agency partners to create assets that align with brand standards and meets development and fundraising objectives.
  • Collaborates with the digital team to ensure website information is up-to-date and relevant to a donor audience in order to achieve business objectives.
  • Works closely with the writing team to identify and capture client success stories and other information that can be used in fundraising and other marketing campaigns. 
  • Serves as a Foundation brand ambassador, ensuring that all marketing and communication efforts and assets reflect and adhere to branding standards.
Educational Background: 
Completion of a Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of progressively responsible experience in a communications-related field.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing comprehensive marketing plans, particularly for cause marketing or fundraising campaigns -- online and offline -- and in the development, management, and distribution of print and online marketing/fundraising collateral and communication tools and the use of varied marketing media and channels.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing pitches and proposals to secure business partnerships and sponsorships and to attract philanthropic giving.
  • Proactive self-starter, with the ability to meet multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to work under pressure and perform duties in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and ability to successfully manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to build partnerships and to gain consensus with co-workers and peers.  Team player that is comfortable with collaboration.
  • Skilled written and oral communication ability and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle challenges and perform duties in a diplomatic fashion.
