AARP is seeking a student as a summer intern to use newly acquired financial skills and apply them to the management of a multi-billion dollar investment portfolio. AARP is a non-profit membership organization with over 38 million members which seeks to improve the lives of people over 50.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • The Intern is responsible for some of the quantitative, analytical, and research support used in implementing investment strategy for the broad range of funds managed by AARP. Funds are managed for AARP, its affiliates and benefit plans. AARP currently has over $1.6 billion in net assets and over $4.5 billion in investment assets. This position works closely with and under the direction of the investment management team and the Treasurer.
  • The intern is responsible for collecting, interpreting and organizing large volumes of data and using this data to help management build effective investment portfolios. This position helps to develop and implement models and analytical processes that support the decision-making process for Treasury. This position works across a wide spectrum of investment pools, asset classes and strategies, including alternative assets. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance and investments, managing data and thinking strategically.
Educational Background: 
Interns must be currently enrolled in a degreed program at an accredited college or university; and be considered rising undergraduate juniors or seniors, graduate students, or post doctorate students.  Preference will be given to MBA students.
Skills/Experience: 
  • AARP also considers non-traditional interns who are looking to re-enter the workforce or change careers.  This may include those who have previously graduated college and are now enrolled in a continuing education program.
