Innovation Program Analyst - Tax Aide

Working under the direction of the Director, National Business Operations, the Program Analyst will be part of a team pursuing innovative business models and methods that help overcome traditional practices. The Program Analyst provides high level data management, administrative and operational support to the Tax-Aide team by providing support and assistance with planning, management, implementation, and monitoring of key strategically focused projects that aim to transform low income 50+ individuals’ lives in a positive manner.  This position will support interventions, systems, and strategies across Tax-Aide. The Analyst will work in concert with the leads for the program (including combining innovation, resourcefulness and opportunity to address critical social challenges facing the low income 50+ and their families that leverage the Tax-Aide program.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Supporting the development of large scale, systemic and sustainable social change through new innovations, different approaches, a more rigorous application of known technologies or strategies, or a combination of these
  • Adopting a mission to create and sustain social value
  • Innovating by finding new products, new services, or new approaches to apply to the Tax-Aide program that will result in a greater program impact.
  • Continuously refining and adapting approaches in response to feedback, research and insights
  • This position is responsible for working collaboratively to develop and implement new ideas, concepts and solutions, which may include using the Foundation’s innovation pipeline process to ideate, prototype and develop related funding requests and business plans that enable Tax-Aide to test new ideas and ultimately launch and scale integrated, comprehensive, and transformational service models that are designed to increase support and service to the low income 50+. This position requires a commitment to the Foundation's strategy of continuously developing social innovations that increase our ability to provide practical, scalable, and sustainable solutions to the needs of the low income 50+.

  • The role requires a strong ability to work well at an inter-personal level in order to champion innovation and social entrepreneurship in the Foundation.
  • The role also involves a strong analytical component, requiring the ability to repeatedly review, critique, upgrade and provide constructive feedback on new initiatives and opportunities.
  • This position will have a very high impact on AARP Foundation’s ability to execute its strategy and reach both its short and longer term goals.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in business, science, technology, economics or social entrepreneurship
Skills/Experience: 
  • 3+ years’ experience in social entrepreneurship and/or social enterprise development
  • Evidence of being part of building a social enterprise preferred
  • Excellent business judgment, a familiarity with a wide variety of business models both in the for-profit and non-profit sectors, and the ability to see the potential application of these models in the context of social innovation 
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written; ability to produce high quality reports and presentations
  • Strong familiarity with both quantitative and qualitative research and analysis, budgeting, and quantifying return on investment
  • A preference to take responsibility, manage multiple projects at once, and deliver professional work-product promptly and on-deadline
  • Highly self-motivated
