The Innovation Marketing Manager will be responsible for leading the development and execution of a range of integrated marketing programs that are focused on testing concepts and new products from inception through launch.

The position will partner with innovation team leads to define, manage and optimize projects that support the Product Development group. This position will work with the SVP of Innovation & Product Development and Innovation Directors to design and implement new programs and processes to drive go-to-market strategies for new products and services. This position will report to the VP, Product Development

Areas of Responsibility: 

Product Marketing:

  • Play a primary role in the development of go-to-market strategies and ensure all execution remains on strategy
  • Lead the development of integrated marketing programs through strategy, design, execution and measurement
  • Partner with innovation team leads to develop and launch creative tactics that drive marketing strategies for new products and services
  • Define project scope and deliverables, including associated business and technical requirements.
  • Lead the development of program/project specific test and measurement plans.
  • Develop marketing budgets and ensure projects remain on budget, supporting innovation teams from concept validation through in-market testing
  • Maintain program reporting and analyze results to make testing and optimization recommendations

Financial and budgetary responsibility

  • This position will be responsible for overseeing a budget for go-to-market activities

Direction and leadership given to others

  • This position will have responsibility to direct innovation team members

Regular requirement of directing, reviewing and assigning others work

  • This position will direct, review and assign work to project team
  • This position will require the ability to manage marketing activities across multiple innovation projects with varying degrees of oversight and guidance. This individual must possess a great deal of autonomy in decision-making and communications, know when to manage up and identify key areas of decision-making oversight.
  • This position involves engaging with executive sponsors and innovation teams to develop go-to-market strategies for new concepts, products and in-market pilots. This level of engagement will require strong communication, listening, and information synthesis and storytelling skills.
  • This position will have a direct impact on AARP’s success in developing transformational innovative solutions today and in the future.  Responsible for developing clear and actionable solutions, this role will help teams move their solutions through the innovation pipeline by identifying key experiments and areas for refinement.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Skills/Experience: 
  • A minimum of 8+ years of relevant work experience
  • Proven ability to design marketing communications programs, including: strategy, tactical plan, test design, creative execution, operations plan etc.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Excellent oral/written presentation skills; proficiency in preparation and presentation of proposals, analytical reports, and documents regarding programs’ operational status, achievement and performance
  • Experience in operational details of campaign execution, including data elements
  • Demonstrated efficiency in vendor and budget management
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet high standards for quality and accuracy
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment and have sound business judgment in project prioritization
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Project management experience a plus
