The Manager of Social Media Graphics develops the strategic social vision of the Brand Strategy Department with the Director of Creative Services and Director of Social Communications. This Manager oversees workflow and capacity, strategic planning, customer service, quality control and compliance with AARP brand guidelines, visual standards and brand messaging architecture to help ensure strategic delivery of the AARP brand voice and identity through the social channel to maximize internal resources and outputs.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Provides Internal Clients with marketing, campaign strategy and business counsel to ensure the clear and consistent delivery of the AARP voice across multiple touch points. May include writing, editing, as well as visual execution.
  • Oversees the day-to-day activities of Social Media Graphics with operational support, including project assignments, planning, client service, quality control and problem solving, including template/standards development and maintenance of the Social Channel.
  • Manages staff through personal interactions, written reports and enterprise evaluations.
  • Anticipates and resolves resource and timing issues including capacity. Responsible for relationships with outside creative vendors to ensure quality products and timely, cost-effective services. Manages some agency interactions including on boarding and brand compliance and direction.
  • Provides creative advice and counsel to the Director of Creative Services and Brand, Director of Social Communications and SVP of Brand on top priority, high profile programs of AARP.
  • Develops and coaches innovation in all design creation and implementation.
  • Demonstrates organizational character in all interactions.
Educational Background: 
Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Design, Social Media Marketing Communications, or a related discipline
Skills/Experience: 
  • 6+ years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience related to the duties of the position.
  • Strong project management experience required.
  • Experience in matrix management a plus, including client, staff and agency management.
  • Requires proficiency with MS Office and Adobe Suite software and current Social Media Applicaitons.
  • Requires experience and proven track record in designing and overseeing digital asset and file management and design workflows.
  • Able to work quickly and on deadline, in a collaborative manner or individually, to plan, analyze, organize and execute assigned projects.
  • This position is expected to engage in professional and consistent client service, across Brand, Integrated Communications and Marketing and all business units of the AARP enterprise.
  • Must be proficient with digital, tablet, mobile and other new media/social media solutions.
