The Executive Assistant (EA) works in support of CDT’s President & CEO to carry out the organization’s mission of advancing digital rights. The role requires a self-motivated, well organized, and flexible person able to handle a wide range of operational needs. The position requires strong interpersonal skills and discretion, as the EA will act as the President’s first line of contact with stakeholders, the public, and the press. This position is located in CDT’s Washington, D.C. office.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Organize and maintain President & CEO’s schedule;
  • Manage, schedule, and prepare for President & CEO’s meetings;
  • Research and develop thoughtful and substantive briefing materials in coordination with policy and administrative teams;
  • Support and staff the President & CEO at meetings or events as needed;
  • Oversee the President & CEO’s correspondence, drafting responses as needed, while ensuring timely follow-up;
  • Arrange travel schedule and accommodations as needed;
  • Manage contact database, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information for key organizational contacts;
  • Assist with internal accounting functions, including expense management;
  • Interact with and lend support to CDT’s Board of Directors and Advisory Council as necessary;
  • Produce documents, reports, and presentations.
Educational Background: 
Bachelors Degree or higher
Skills/Experience: 

An ideal candidate will have scheduling, administrative, or executive assistant experience and be able to interact and respond to all levels of staff and external stakeholders. The candidate should be proactive, efficient, resourceful, highly professional, and respect confidentiality.  Characteristics of a successful candidate will include:

  • A minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role;
  • Exceptional time-management skills;
  • Experience managing an executive’s schedule;
  • Ability to prioritize projects and execute under stress while maintaining long-term focus on the President & CEO’s priorities;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Willingness to assist other teams across the organization as needed;
  • Resourcefulness and strong problem solving abilities;
  • Proficiency in Salesforce CRM or willingness to learn;
  • Proficiency with standard web-based collaborative office software, as well as systems such as PowerPoint, Excel, and G Suite; and
  • A dedication to CDT’s mission.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary is commensurate with experience and is competitive within the nonprofit space. CDT provides a generous benefits package that includes health care and dental coverage, a retirement plan, paid vacation, sick days, and parental leave.
