The Digital Impact Alliance (DIAL) is a global alliance formed to enable the digital ecosystem to deliver greater scale, efficiency, and social impact as it creates more inclusive digital economies in emerging markets. Working with partners, DIAL generates evidence of what works through a series of demonstration projects, distils insights and tools to promote scale-up and replication, and provides mechanisms for knowledge sharing, collaboration, and co-investment throughout the ecosystem.
DIAL is a donor-funded program hosted within the UN Foundation and based in the UN Foundation’s Washington, D.C. office. This full-time role can work from DC or remotely.
One central element of DIAL’s mission is to enhance capacity efforts across the diverse range of actors within the digital development ecosystem and share knowledge, insights and tools across geographies and verticals. This includes the dissemination of products developed by DIAL for customers from a variety of backgrounds as well as understanding and promoting efforts made by colleagues who are signatories to the Principles for Digital Development.
DIAL is seeking an Engagement and Training lead for a full-time role. S/he will be a recognized leader in the ICT4D community and will have a proven training and strategic communications background. Her/his role will be to identify key needs for global, common ICT4D curriculum working with a diverse set of stakeholders, design curriculum that can be adapted by a broad array of stakeholders and foster a community of trainers around the Principles for Digital Development through a comprehensive outreach plan. To accomplish this, s/he will work with sectoral colleagues in leading NGOs and donor agencies to build partnerships with regional networks (e.g., AeHIN) so that DIAL’s ICT4D capacity efforts have a true global footprint. S/he will also partner internally with DIAL’s Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning team to foster a strong internal learning community at DIAL and support a culture of continuous learning through skills development work.
The Engagement and Training Lead will report to the Senior Director, Insights & Impact for overall guidance, work planning and performance reviews.
DIAL Overall:
- Design a community engagement and training strategy for DIAL and Principles for Digital Development products working closely with internal colleagues developing a distribution strategy for DIAL products, stewarding the Principles for Digital Development and Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning colleagues.
- Engage and build a network of external community members (e.g., donors, NGOs) who can shape DIAL’s products grounded in customer needs
- Partner with Senior Director, Insights and Impact and communications leads to develop a packaging strategy for DIAL’s programmatic outputs tailored to community engagement needs.
- Develop and maintain a priority list of dissemination and training partners that DIAL should work with closely to spread word of our publications and tools globally.
- Support Manager, Insights and Impact to with stakeholder mapping in the global South of distribution partners.
- Work closely with Director of Communications to align workshops with press releases for DIAL products.
- Engage communities and networks in digital development who can support both breadth and depth of dissemination.
- Support Director, Program Operations with the design and facilitation plans for DIAL-wide bi-annual team convenings.
Principles for Digital Development:
- Support the development of a comprehensive curriculum for DIAL’s Principles for Digital Development, with a train-the-trainers approach and inclusive of workshops for disseminating the curriculum.
- Work closely with Manager, Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning, to develop key metrics to test and monitor training progress and outcomes
- Coordinate and conduct workshops with communities and networks to implement curriculum.
- Work closely with Manager, Principles for Digital Development, to ensure alignment on broader Digital Principles activities and products.
- Advance DIAL’s endorsement strategy for the Principles to increase the number of endorsers their networks and engagements.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience, with engagement across the public, private and nonprofit sectors.
- Recognized leader in the ICT4D space with minimum of 3 years of experience leading ICT4D training efforts,
- Demonstrated excellence in development of training materials, learning processes and facilitation processes with emphasis on adult learning, preferably in a low resource setting.
- Strong program manager with an ability to execute across multiple efforts simultaneously.
- Experience with managing partnerships and relationship building.
- Strategic thinker who enjoys being a thought partner and collaborator on new ventures
- Experience with communications to message content for targeted audiences.
- Excellent writing skills and innovative approaches to communicate technically complex materials.
- Detail-oriented and results-driven.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle stress.
