We seek to hire a Director, Coaching and Culture to lead regional efforts to ensure that the students in corps members’ classrooms are academically prepared for a life of choice and equity and that our corps members are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and mindsets necessary to become lifelong advocates for educational equity.
As a Director on our team, you will contribute to and advance our team’s work by setting a vision for coaching in our region, leading a team of teacher coaches (Managers of Teacher Leadership Development- MLTDs), and designing and leading professional development for the coaching team to ensure that the region achieves its student achievement, corps member retention and culture, and partnership goals. This position is a part of the D.C. Region Talent Hub team and would serve on the Talent Hub Leadership Team (HubLT) to ensure a strong continuum of supports are provided to teachers from their onboarding to the region through alumnihood.

You will report directly to the Managing Director, Teacher Leadership Development.
Accelerate and Advance the Talent Hub Team’s Efforts Toward Transformational Change in our Classrooms (40%)
- Design vision for our coaching work supporting teachers in their classrooms that incorporates instructional development, emphasis on core mindsets/beliefs, diversity, equity, and inclusiveness principles, and leveraging internal and external stakeholders as developmental supports.
- Cultivate good judgment in your team about trends and causes in classrooms through regular school visits and field time in corps member and alumni classrooms.
- Manage teacher support partnerships including pilot programs in alumni teacher development in Prince George’s County and educator wellness partnership with Georgetown University. Provide pedagogical coaching and consulting to small cohort of alumni teachers who are Venture Philanthropy Partners Fellows in PGCPS.
- Manage the execution of interventions in the most struggling corps member classrooms to ensure that they efficiently become safe and inclusive spaces for students.
Develop a Successful Coaching Team (40%)
- Manage high quality implementation of coaching vision through performance management, program evaluation and benchmarking.
- Identify and execute aligned professional development and coaching of four MTLDs that supports the regional coaching vision.
- Motivate and move your team to internalize the possibility of achieving ambitious goals with students, realize their potential to set students on a dramatically different life trajectory, and claim their role as leaders in the movement for educational equity
- Empower and cultivate a strong coaching team culture in service of student and teacher outcome goals.
- Have deep knowledge of your identity and how race, class, and privilege influence your values, mindsets and behaviors
Fuel the Movement for Educational Equity (10%)
- In collaboration with the Talent Hub team, establish and maintain diverse school district and community partnerships that drive toward a common vision, goals, and values.
- Actively work to build authentic relationships with all stakeholders, and to realize our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusiveness.
- Cultivate corps members and alumni in order to support vision for corps member development and leveraging them as external stakeholders/resources for current corps members.
Regional Team Responsibilities (10%)
- Support, attend, and/or participate in regional team activities, including corps member selection and matriculation, corps member professional development events (4-5 per year in the evening), staff meetings, functional team meetings and retreats, and regional pre-service (one week in June)
- Experience as a Teach For America corps member and/or staff member highly preferred
- Experience working in the DC and/or Prince George’s County education landscape highly preferred
- A minimum of 5-7 years of work experience, including leading and managing teams to achieve ambitious outcomes in a school/education setting
- Teaching experience in a K-12 setting required
Work Demands
- This Director will often travel independently to multiple school sites throughout the day that may be significant distances from one another, and navigating school facilities that may or may not be ADA-compliant.
- This role requires attendance at evening professional development or regional events at least twice quarterly.
- Additionally, the Director, Coaching and Culture should expect 1-2 weeklong overnight trips for conferences each year.

- In collaboration with Talent Hub team leadership, be able to establish ambitious / measurable goals and aligned strategy for the academic achievement of students, effective partnerships with districts and schools, and the instructional leadership development of corps members and staff members
