The Public Policy Institute Graduate Data Policy Intern will assist the Long-term Services and Supports & Livable Communities Group in conducting data analysis related to livable communities and the long-term care needs of older adults. The individual will join a team at the forefront of creating and driving innovative solutions that empower individuals and their families to thrive in their homes and communities.
This position requires someone with a strong background in conducting and contributing to public policy analyses and original research using complex programming, data manipulation, and computer modeling. Candidates should be equipped with using large public use data files as well as smaller data and presenting the data in tabular, graphical, and narrative formats.
Activities will include:
- conducting statistical analysis and computer programming;
- conducting research and policy analysis;
- ensuring that appropriate methodological and statistical procedures are used in policy documents and analyses, and;
- providing technical support to senior staff.
A successful candidate is very organized, focuses on details (very important skill set for this position), able to juggle multiple projects, able to work in teams but also function independently. Having a strong mastery of statistical analysis, quantitative research methodology and writing skills are necessary for this position.
The candidate should also possess strong exploratory analysis and problem solving skills and be able to translate data results into strategic advice.
