Coordinator, Media Assets

Primary responsibility for high-volume pipeline of photos and videos created by research, conservation, and education grantees. Responsible for coordinating and selecting video and photo assets and providing quality assurance for the entire metadata contents of assets for permanent archiving in the Society’s repository. This includes editing raw footage into selects video reels, researching rights and clearance information, and creating accurate descriptions and precise keywording using the taxonomies that are departmentally specific, dynamic and ever changing. Provides final quality assurance of photos and videos before submitting assets into the Society's archive and updating grants database.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Catalog all grantee photos and videos, attaching correct metadata and ensuring legal rights compliance (65%)
  • Finalize grants media requirements and update grants management system (10%)
  • Follow up with grantees to ensure completion of grants media requirements (10%)
  • Maintain reports on grantee media, including tracking of asset usage, as required (10%)
  • Assist content team in highlighting and promoting Society media assets for broad use on Society and its Partners platforms (5%)
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree
Skills/Experience: 
  • At least 1-2 years video and/or photography experience and cataloging media
  • Strong research and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail, ability to understand and prioritize multiple requests from different team members;
  • Must be a self-guided, creative, highly organized, and motivated individual;
  • Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to work through problem-solving on a new team;
  • Basic understanding of legal and rights terminology;
  • Must be capable of exercising flexibility, multitasking and working effectively with others.
  • Knowledge of FinalCut, Premiere, and Lightroom a plus.
