Reporting to the Sr. Director, Content Strategy, the Coordinator will fill a critical role within the Content Strategy team. The position will be responsible for the tracking and reporting of all content collaborations between Society (non-profit) and National Geographic Partners (media company). S/he will provide operational support to 8-person team to ensure the storytelling relationship between the organizations remains strong.

The successful candidate will have experience managing databases and creating power point/keynote presentations, the ability to capture and synthesize information effectively, a familiarity with storytelling and content, and a positive attitude. S/he will be detail-oriented, meticulous, and possess independent problem-solving ability.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Track and report editorial collaboration projects and grantee/program coverage across all NGP editorial units.  Run quarterly reports for NGS Senior Team. Build relationships with colleagues at Partners to facilitate processes.  Maintain priority projects lists for team members.  (35%)
  • Provide support in compiling & editingregular editorial newsletter featuring highlights of Society Explorers. (25%)
  • Provide ongoing administrative support for content strategy team, including monthly tracking of budgets & projects, processing invoices, and supporting legal contract process. Provide travel and meeting support to the VP and Deputy of Content Strategy. (25%)
  • Schedule editorial meetings and updates for team members with Society and Partners colleagues. (15%)
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
Skills/Experience: 
  • 2+ years professional experience in media, storytelling, PR, content strategy, or related field

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Attention to detail, ability to understand and prioritize multiple requests from different team members;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database tools, familiarity with MailChimp a plus;
  • Demonstrated ability to track and report on high volume of projects;
  • Must be a self-guided, creative, highly organized, and motivated individual;
  • Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to work through problem-solving on a new team;
  • Basic understanding of budget and legal terminology;
  • Must be capable of exercising flexibility, multitasking and working effectively with others.
