Coordinator, Global Events & Sponsorships

The Global Events & Sponsorships team of the National Geographic Society is responsible for developing and producing high quality, impactful events and sponsorships that use the power to convene to drive programmatic outcomes, further visibility for our executives, programs and talent, and build donor loyalty and philanthropic support.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Administrative Support: Provide general administrative support to the team which may include, but is not limited to, maintaining files, updating organization’s master calendar, tracking and reporting on event expenses, building and maintaining invitation lists, accepting, tracking and securing RSVPs, submitting invoices for payment, managing events email account, scheduling meetings, and coordinating event supplies. (50%)
  • Facility Use Requests: Monitor and respond to requests by internal and external partners requesting use of Grosvenor Auditorium, the Dining Hall, Hubbard Hall, and the Museum for meetings and events held by internal colleagues and external partners. Coordinate with Vice President, Global Events and Sponsorships, to determine prioritization, master calendar, allowance of use by external partners, and logistical support to be provided by Global Events and Sponsorship team. Coordinate with AV team to determine availability for support, especially in Grosvenor Auditorium. (20%)
  • Logistical Support: Assist Events & Sponsorships team with execution of events as needed. Evening and weekend hours may be required. (30%)
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • 2+ years relevant event or marketing experience

  • Excellent phone manner and writing skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proactive, self-starter
  • Ability to deliver results with managing competing priorities under tight deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Computer skills (Word, PowerPoint, Photoshop, Excel, Web software, Indesign, etc.)
