The Compensation & Benefits Assistant plays a key role supporting the Compensation & Benefits team in delivering exceptional customer care to NPR staff as well as maintaining internal best practices. This position reports to the Manager of Compensation & Benefits.
Areas of Responsibility:
Benefits Administration
- Manages benefits billing
- Maintains Voluntary Benefits (LEAF, Childcare, AFLAC, Nationwide, Legal Shield)
- Measures eligibility for temporary staff based on union rules (not ACA related)
- Maintains and processes records and files relating to eligibility, benefits elections, beneficiary designations, claims experience and similar matters.
- Provides FMLA and Workers Comp administrative support
- Provides assistance with Wellness Initiatives
- Completes routine audits
- Assists in the maintenance of company benefit communications such as the company intranet, HRIS landing page, etc.
- Reviews new hire and terminated employee data to ensure benefits data accuracy with respect to audits to ensure eligibility and coverage accuracy.
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
Compensation Administration
- Assists in the preparation of job evaluations and compensation analysis.
- Assists in the preparation of information on employee demographics, trends, and projections with respect to compensation. Assists department in utilizing metrics through creation of customized dashboards and predictive analytics reports.
- Assists the C&B Analyst in benchmarking jobs related to salary survey preparation.
- Assists the C&B Director with various projects in support of benefits administration and provides administrative support for Compensation as needed.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree degree required. HR Certification preferred.
Skills/Experience:
- 2 years administrative experience in a Benefits and Compensation role.
- Critical Evaluation and complex problem solving skills
- Experience maintaining HRMS database.
- Knowledge of Benefits Administration including knowledge of Healthcare Laws.
- Excellent organizational skills and initiative to improve processes.
- Ability multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Passionate about customer service.
- Strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects concurrently
- Self-motivated, resourceful, proactive, and collaborative team player.
