Communications Project Manager

The SCE Project Manager for Communications provides direct and highly responsible administrative, technical and operations support to the communications work of the SCE Core Office and state office staff.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Provide support for SCE internal communications 
    • Draft internal presentations
    • Compile information and format presentations and documents
    • Organize editorial content and information updates for SCE Update
    • Pull information and draft content for internal communications channels, e.g., News Now
    • Research and organize background materials for SVP presentations, including state visits
    • Provide resource materials (headshots, edited bio info) as needed
    • Produce regular reports that tell the story of work and impact across the states (e.g., week Rx report)
  • Serve as SCE liaison and day-to-day manager of systems communications contracts and services that support states: assist e.g., media monitoring (Cision), social media (Sprinklr, Broadnet) and istock.
    • Assist the Sr Advisor for Digital/Social with support for state web pages (BrightSpot)
    • Establish and execute on-going trainings and supports for states
    • Provide one on one assistance to states to better use the systems
    • Pull reports – regular and targeted – from Cision and Sprinkr
  • Coordinate SCE’s operational support for AARP digital content strategy
    • Manage and track content scheduling
    • Identify opportunities for improved state engagement in digital channels
  • Create and maintain SCE state communications Infonet resource site.
  • Organize and support briefings and trainings for state communications staff (e.g., theme months, new tools and resources, announcement and rollout of major projects and support)
    • Liaison with ICM/Brand to support states in the use of Brand self-service tools and systems (self-service tool for creative assets, CAP, Creative Resources catalog)
  • Exhibit AARP values in all interactions.
Educational Background: 
Completion of a bachelor degree in communications, marketing or other field and 2 years' of experience
Skills/Experience: 
  • Demonstrated expertise in the use of various on-line platforms and visualization tools, as well as Microsoft 365, Tableau, Excel and similar software programs, including the ability to create tables and graphics
  • Excellent organizational skills, including attention to detail, managing multiple tasks simultaneously and consistently meets deadlines, without prompting
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work in a matrix environment with minimal daily supervision.
