Audubon Washington is seeking a Chapter Network Manager to work closely with the 25 chapters in Washington to increase conservation outcomes, advocacy and capacity of Audubon chapters in Washington in alignment with state, flyway and national strategic priorities to maximize the effectiveness of Audubon. The Chapter Network Manager is an integral member of the Audubon Washington team and is tasked with maintaining, enhancing and supporting the capacity, diversity, and connectedness of the Audubon network in Washington. Serving as a key link and official liaison to all chapters across the state, the Chapter Network Manager is responsible for continuing to build and support a strong network of chapters and members, with the goal of creating a broader constituency base engaged in bird conservation action at the local, state, and national level. This position is expected to work independently; establish work timelines, budget and travel schedules; give presentations; prepare agendas, plan, execute and facilitate regional and statewide chapters meeting, as well as identify opportunities for fundraising and donor prospects.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Serve as an effective liaison between Audubon Washington and its 25 chapters; work collaboratively across the Audubon network to build relationships, coordinate partnerships and increase integration of Audubon’s conservation programs and advocacy efforts.
  • Develop and oversee the effective execution of projects designed to complement and benefit the goals and objectives of Audubon’s strategic priorities that engage the network, such as organizing advocacy trainings and lobby days, sign-on letters projects, disseminating action alerts, increasing participation in conservation campaigns, promoting stewardship and community science efforts, and other important work that connects to Audubon’s conservation priorities.
  • Work closely with other Audubon Washington staff to maintain coordination, communication and engagement with chapters throughout the state, as well as build, maintain and coordinate relationships with designated external partners and collaborators to support implementation of conservation and advocacy programs. Represent the organization in public settings and give presentations.
  • Plan, organize and facilitate annual regional meetings of chapters (5); plan, organize and facilitate annual statewide meeting (1).
  • Maintain regular communications to and among chapters. Coordinate the development of annual chapter conservation policy resolutions.
  • Lead the ongoing development and implementation of the Audubon Washington communications strategy, including website maintenance, social media outreach, and various content for chapter communications.
  • Be an effective partner and local coordinator for the National Network team’s efforts; provide mentoring and supervision to the Washington Field Organizer on campaigns; and utilize approved tools and standards for state-based Network activities to further implement conservation strategies at the state level.
  • Assist state and national staff with the development and implementation of advocacy campaigns including outreach, education and engagement with chapters and members.
  • In coordination with the Field Organizer, recruit chapters and members for volunteer programs that support conservation and science initiatives, as needed.
  • Coordinate annual solicitation and review of proposals submitted to the Audubon Chapter Collaborative Funding program; guide those projects to enhance state or national conservation work. Work with network and development staff to leverage the program through other funding sources.
  • Work with development staff to identify grant and donor opportunities.
  • Additional tasks as directed or needed. Some evening and weekend work required.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in communications, conservation or related field
Skills/Experience: 
  • 5 years’ experience with outreach programs or community engagement; experience in conservation preferred.
  • Personable, positive attitude, and strong people skills - relates well to people with a range of interests and differing perspectives. Experience with staff and/or volunteer supervision strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills essential.
  • GIS experience a plus
  • Demonstrated professional experience in time/project management, including fiscal management and completing reports, proposals, contracts, etc.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic fast-paced environment.
  • Must be self-motivated and willing to work in a flexible, non-structured environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability and willingness to travel locally and out-of-state and be comfortable with working evenings and weekends as job demands. Valid driver's license is necessary.
  • Strong interest in wildlife and conservation issues and a recognition that balanced solutions are important to ensure that birds, ecosystems and people thrive.
