Supports the Director of Advocacy & Consumer Affairs with day to day management and implementation of projects related to policy, stakeholder engagement, and numerous Campaign for Action Learning Collaboratives.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Tracks state and national policies.
  • Openly and effectively communicates with key internal and external project stakeholders.  Serves as an active member of the planning and implementation teams for assigned projects.
  • Manages and implements technical assistance; coordinates event planning.
  • Manages and tracks time-sensitive projects and events to ensure timely and accurate completion and compliance. 
  • Develops and provides project status updates with relevant team members at regularly scheduled intervals.  Seeks direction, implements decisions, provides active follow up and reports on outcomes for each project.
  • Prepares materials, reports, project plans with goals, objectives and intended outcomes to support specific project decision-making as requested.
  • Initiates, builds, and maintains internal and external relationships.
  • Works with external vendors and other key contacts, as necessary. Communicates with liaisons at partner organizations to arrange timing, processes, and follow-up for conference calls, web conferences, meetings, and events.
  • Demonstrates AARP leadership behaviors in all interactions.
Educational Background: 
Completion of a bachelor’s degree
Skills/Experience: 
  • 3+ years of experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience related to the duties of the position. 
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with all levels and across multiple departments. 
  • Advanced proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Excel and electronic communication.
