To perform general carpentry work involved in the construction, alteration, repair and maintenance of the Society's buildings as effectively and efficiently as possible to ensure the highest quality end product. General carpentry will also include work with exhibits, events, special projects, fabricating displays, shipping and storage containers, assembly of modular furniture and cubicles and other duties as required to help the Carpenter Shop.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • General Carpentry to include construction, alterations and repairs / maintenance of the complex.  (55%)
  • Assist with building exhibits, events and special projects and demo of exhibits when closed.  (15%) ​
  • Assist with the building and configuring of cubicles and modular furniture.  (10%)
  • Shop maintenance to include moving and stacking of construction materials. (10%)
  • Installation of doors, hardware, hanging of pictures, white boards, monitors, curtains and other similar items. (10%)
Educational Background: 
A high school graduate and Carpenters apprenticeship training.
Skills/Experience: 
  • 2+ years experience in the carpentry field and shop experience.
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills; knowledge and ability to plan and layout work using blueprints, specifications, drawings and other work orders; knowledge of  machinery, carpentry tools and equipment; knowledge of all building materials required to complete assigned projects and must be able to work independently as well as work and get along well with others. Average computer skills are also required.
