The Benefits Specialist will provide support to the Compensation and Benefits team in the administration of compensation and benefits programs based on NPR’s business strategies and operating objectives. The Benefits Specialist will provide high quality customer service and support in administration of major human resource benefits programs including: NPR retirement plans, benefits health plans and other initiatives.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Responds to employee inquiries regarding NPR benefit programs.
- Assists employees with claims resolution by acting as a liaison between employees and vendors
- Conducts Benefits Onboarding for all new hire and transferring employees.
- Process new hire benefits enrollment and employee benefits changes.
- Maintains benefits records.
- Responsible for coordinating Annual Health Fair/Flu shots.
- Administers NPR Wellness Programs in partnership with NPR Wellness Clinic and NPR Fitness Center
- Assists with Open Enrollment preparation.
- Initiate initial notices and exit information to COBRA carrier.
- Manages benefits eligibility for temporary employees.
- Maintains Affordable Care Act measurement groups and eligibility notices.
- Assists with FMLA process.
- Benefits billing reconciliation.
- Ensures compliance with data privacy and protection guidelines.
- Maintains the C&B shared drive files
- Maintains employee benefits information portal.
- Assists in the preparation of division benefits communications.
- Maintains HR division Benefits intranet pages.
- Other duties as assigned.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills/Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in employee benefits.
- Working knowledge of federal and state regulations such as ERISA, FMLA, ADA, COBRA, PPACA, HIPAA, Health and Welfare plans.
- Ability to create solutions to solve complex problems and influence customers.
- Extensive knowledge of HRIS systems and MS Office to include strong EXCEL skills.
- Strong analytical skills and spreadsheet knowledge.
- Has basic knowledge of HR and benefit fundamentals including design principles and administration.
- Has strong interpersonal skills and experience collaborating with employees across a diverse organization.
- Has outstanding oral and written presentation ability.
- Is an outstanding cross-functional and interdepartmental communicator
- Communicates effectively to convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences.
- Instills trust by gaining confidence of others through honesty, integrity and authenticity.
- Collaborates by building partnerships with others to meet shared objectives.
