What you need to know about this position: The Association Director of Volunteer Experience and Engagement role collaborates with internal and external teams to support the ongoing development of a robust employee, member, stakeholder and external engagement program and the delivery of effective and measurable volunteer strategies. The ideal candidate for this role will have at least five years’ experience in volunteer coordination, management and engagement, which leads to volunteer retention and support. Internal and external communication is key to ensure a successful volunteer program. This person should be an innovative thinker who can easily pivot when a situation calls for flexibility. Additionally, the individual who fills this position will be responsible for the implementation and maintenance of employee, member, volunteer and external volunteer and engagement initiatives. Serve as primary point of contact and key resource for volunteer opportunities and events offsite for all of YMCA of Metropolitan Washington’s’ branches and sites.
- Responsible for coordinating site visits with potential partner organizations and serves as key liaison with organization leaers during events.
- Assist with the development of presentaitons for the Vice President of Philanthropy, including presentaition materials such as data analysis and key results.
- WOrk with Y branches to draft messaging to be used internally and externally to encourage volunteerism and enagement among staff, including event and initiative information.
- Manage the Association's annual and summer internship program.
- Provide support to the summer youth employment program (SYEP).
- Lead and manage the annual Volunteer Day of Service for the organization.
- Develop Systems and procedures to track volunteer hours to report out annually.
- Lead special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
- Proficiency in database management, internet research, and Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel.
- Event planning experience encouraged. Innovative idea generation.
- Analytical skills, including experience in analyzing and interpreting numerical data, and translating analyses into meaningful recommendations and next steps.
- Ability to gather and analyze data information, and prepare cogent financial and/or status reports.
- Ability to work independently, as well as, part of a team in a fast-paced, high changing environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands.
- Ability to interact with staff and vendors in fast-paced, multi-dimensional environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining positive, adaptable, proactive, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
- Superior attention to detail in composing, and proofing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
- Strong organization and presentation skills. Time management skills essential.

- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills (verbal, written, public presentation), decision-making ability and attention to detail required.
- Ability to interact effectively with all levels of management, operations personnel, as well as, external stakeholders.
- Volunteer experience with governments, schools and non-government organizations is a plus.
Salary: $80,000.00
