The Public Partnerships team is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented individual with experience juggling multiple assignments, an interest in education policy, and a passion for Teach For America’s mission to serve as Associate. In this role, you will primarily provide support to our Government Affairs team, but also provide support to the Teach For America’s Hill Fellowship program, and the Public Partnerships Leadership team with managing calendars, arranging travel, tracking and submitting expenses, preparing meeting materials, and managing the team’s Salesforce data.

Finally, you have a sense of humor combined with a spirit of flexibility and a sense of possibility. Below is a clearer picture of the responsibilities for this role:  

Government Affairs Support (estimated 50%)

  • Schedule Congressional and Administration meetings;
  • Collaborate in the drafting and review of advocacy materials, memos, and other materials for internal and external use;
  • Attend Congressional briefings, hearings and other external events and report back on key observations and contacts made;
  • Manage logistics of events such as Hill Days, receptions, team retreats and legislative summits;
  • Assist with policy research projects.

Administrative Support (estimated 35%) 
Provide administrative support to members of the Public Partnership Leadership Team, including the Vice President (VP) of Government Affairs, VP of Public Policy, VP of Legislative and Regulatory Affairs, VP of State Funding, and Managing Director of Federal Funding.

  • Schedule meetings and conference calls;
  • Maintain calendars;
  • Arrange and book travel;
  • Process AMEX and reimbursement reports.

Capitol Hill Fellows Program (estimated 15%)

  • Provide general administrative support during the application process;
  • Arrange and book Fellow’s travel;
  • Process reimbursements, stipends, and other payments.
Educational Background: 
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree
Skills/Experience: 
  • Ability to juggle several projects at once;
  • Ability to operate in a highly professional manner with an emphasis on confidentiality;
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communications skills;
  • Ability to effectively organize, plan and execute projects;
  • Ability to work efficiently and with accuracy in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment;
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, OneNote), FluidReview and SalesForce

Prior Experience

  • 1-2 years’ work experience or significant internship or leadership experience

Work Demands

  • Occasional evening work required
