World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the world’s leading conservation organization, seeks an Associate Program Officer for short-term hire to support the Strategies and Measures team. This role is responsible for providing support to members of the WWF GEF Agency, Green Climate Fund (GCF) Accredited Entity and US government (USG) teams to enhance the design, implementation and impact of these projects and programs.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Supports as needed with project planning and proposals for all major projects funded by the GEF, GCF and USG with emphasis on building strong theories of change and monitoring and evaluation (M&E) plans.
  • Assists as needed with analysis of project results, review of progress reports and suggestions for adaptive management of GEF, GCF and USG projects under implementation.
  • Promotes the incorporation of WWF programmatic approaches, policies, Network Standards, and donor requirements into projects, and flags compliance issues to the appropriate manager for action and follow-up.
  • Coordinates external third-party evaluations of major projects when called for (e.g. mid-term and final evaluations of major GEF and GCF-funded projects).
  • Supports the development of a knowledge management and sharing system for GEF and GCF projects. Specific duties may include: review of existing literature and projects in order to incorporate best practices and lessons learned into project design; uploading current projects to Miradi Share, WWF Insight, and other channels; and development of communication pieces for existing projects.
  • Supports capacity building on PPMS. Specific duties may include: orientation and other internal trainings at WWF-US, training on the use of the GCF-PPMS practical guide, launch of WWF Network Define and Design online course, and support of high capacity Network offices to serve as models for best practice application of PPMS.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant professional experience required.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Knowledgeable about project management and current methodologies or approaches in the field.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and evaluation protocols, as well as common donor policies and standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and cooperatively with a wide range of people.
  • Communicates clearly and concisely orally and in writing in English.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with project management software and virtual communication tools.
  • Workshop or meeting preparation or facilitation.
  • Training, certification and/or coursework in project management or M&E.
  • Familiarity with the Open Standards for the Practice of Conservation preferred.
