To meet the objectives of DIAL’s work and the Principles for Digital Development, DIAL is seeking an Associate, Principles for Digital Development. This Associate will support the Digital Principles program, including contract management, stakeholder engagement, and providing thoughtful input into the development of new content for the Digital Principles program.
The Associate, Principles for Digital Development will report to the Manager, Principles for Digital Development for overall guidance, work planning and performance reviews.
- Collaborate with the Manager, Principles for Digital Development by providing project management support, contributing to the contract procurement process, managing vendors and deliverable timelines, and overseeing the work of interns/Fellows as needed.
- Engage with external stakeholders by responding in a timely manner to inquiries, presenting Digital Principles content and presentations at briefings and external events, co-facilitating workshops, and overseeing communications with endorsers.
- Contribute to strategy, planning, and implementation of an “activation plan” to increase engagement by Digital Principles endorsers and encourage deeper adoption. Engage directly with endorsing organizations, responding to their questions or needs.
- Contribute to the creation of new Digital Principles content, including writing blog posts on current topics in the technology for development sector, drafting how-to guides, and working with endorsers to write case studies.
- Manage the Digital Principles website, including uploading new content and modifying web pages as necessary. Provide input into the Digital Principles website refresh and manage day-to-day interactions with vendor delivering the refresh, responding to their questions and providing thoughtful feedback in a timely manner.
- Contribute to the design of communications campaigns around events, workshops, public engagements, and the testing and publication of new Digital Principles materials and tools, working with the DIAL Communications team
- Work with the Manager, Principles for Digital Development to design and execute high-profile events (online and in person), including communications around them.
- Work with the Online Community Manager, Principles for Digital Development to coordinate virtual convenings and webinars of stakeholders on the Digital Principles Forum.
- Other related tasks as needed.
- At least three years’ relevant experience working with an international NGO, preferably in the technology sector
- Familiarity and interest in current trends in digital development and the ICT4D sector.
- Passion for the mission and purpose of the Principles for Digital Development and DIAL.
- Strategic thinker who enjoys being a thought partner and collaborator on new projects, with the ability to design and own projects from beginning to end.
- Demonstrated experience designing, managing, and delivering projects with minimal supervision.
- Relevant experience with event design and support.
- Excellent writing skills and innovative approaches to communicate technically complex materials.
- Demonstrated experience in maintaining websites and social media channels. Familiarity with the following:
- Open source CMS: WordPress, Joomla, or Drupal
- Enterprise CMS: AdobeCQ5, Ektron, Sitecore or similar
- HTML experience; CSS and additional coding skills helpful
- Knowledgeable on use of recording equipment for both videos and podcasts
- Multimedia production, design, and editing using Adobe CS6, Lightroom or MediaValet (or similar), and Final Cut Pro or Dreamweaver
- Team player with ability to work independently when needed, who can own and deliver on assigned activities with little direction.
- Detail-oriented and results-driven.
- English fluency at native level required.
- Must be based in Washington, DC.
