350.org is looking for an experienced, skilled and strategic Associate Director for US Policy. The Associate Director for US Policy will serve on the US Leadership Team and will oversee our political and legislative work to advance equitable climate solutions that stop the fossil fuel industry from continuing to destroy our climate.
350.org is dedicated to advancing the boldest and most progressive solutions to the climate crisis. It includes plans that prioritize the needs of workers, frontline communities, communities of color, and those most impacted. Regulations that prevent the construction of new fossil fuel infrastructures so that we can keep coal, oil and gas in the ground. And legislation that ensures the fossil fuel industry, not everyday people, pay for the costs of a just and equitable transition to 100% renewable energy for all. We support visionary equitable policies like a Green New Deal, a complete ban on fossil fuel development on public lands, and holding the fossil fuel industry legally accountable for their climate lies.
This role will focus on building political support for this agenda. Develop a strategy to advance these priorities on Capitol Hill, in key state houses, and in the public discourse. Build political power with aligned movements of racial, economic, and social justice, with particular emphasis on building bridges with climate impacted frontline communities, organizations and networks. And work with colleagues to organize, mobilize and communicate with 350.org’s base to confront our political opponents and make our vision a reality.
We are looking for a compelling writer, an effective lobbyist, and an expert coalition builder with experience in building multiracial coalitions. A political strategist who understands inside-outside politics and is as comfortable wielding a bullhorn outside the White House as well as meeting with a Member of Congress. And a great team player,a people person who will respect their colleagues, engage our partners, and listen deeply to our constituents.
