The Office of the SVP of Marketing at AARP Services, Inc. is seeking a talented graduate-level intern to join their team in summer, 2018. The successful candidate will thrive in a high-paced, highly functional team, while developing solid marketing skills and techniques that help drive the work of our mission-driven organization.
You will assist the Director with marketing campaign execution, internal marketing planning, developing research and participating in membership initiatives. Bring your can-do spirit of collaboration, teamwork and a willingness to learn as a valuable contributor to our team.
- Manage Copy Review submissions for select health providers twice daily;
- Assist with review of marketing materials using AARP brand guidelines;
- Participate in various AARP membership initiatives, including benefit communications and consumer experience;
- Assist with marketing campaign execution and/or project management tasks. Tasks could include email test plan development, online paid media plan development, workflow initiation, working with creative agencies to secure creative assets, sourcing content for promotion in marketing campaigns, etc.;
- Develop and/or polish internal marketing planning and/or communication templates;
- Perform research on various industries and markets to provide actionable tips and advice for expanding digital reach;
- Monitor and review AARP Member Advantages website pages and enter any changes approved by Marketing Managers via content management tool;
- Provide input and assist with social media postings for lifestyle, health and financial; support social media efforts by developing and implementing process to store all creative used in postings;
- Proofread/edit materials such as marketing materials, blogs, memos, decks, etc.;
- Participate in status meetings, brainstorm sessions with public relations agency meetings for both Lifestyle and Health Co-Op;
- Support other marketing activities as needed; perform various duties as assigned.
AARP also considers non-traditional interns who are looking to re-enter the workforce or change careers. This may include those who have previously graduated college and are now enrolled in a continuing education program.
- Currently pursuing a graduate degree in Business Administration, Marketing or Communications;
- Strong communications (writing and proofreading) and organizational skills;
- Ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects simultaneously;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; familiar with Adobe Acrobat products;
- Aptitude to learn new computer applications, including internal applications such as Copy Review (AMOS) system and website content management tool;
- Interest in the working for a non-profit organization.
