National Geographic Society seeks a Digital Analyst to help create and optimize digital experiences in support of National Geographic’s goals. We strive to be an outcomes-driven organization, and seek to apply your expertise in web analytics and SEO to inform our efforts to create the best programs and experiences for our grantees, educators, and students, and to help us attract and engage targeted, project-specific, audiences. Working closely with the Measurement, Evaluation, and Research and Digital teams, the Digital Analyst will be responsible for measuring and helping to improve our constituents’ digital engagement. - Identify, measure, and report digitally-based KPIs. Develop custom dashboards for departments as needed. (30%)
- Collaborate with digital product managers and web producers to apply web analytics and SEO best practices (25%)
- Work with relevant internal teams to test and iterate strategies to improve user flow and increase engagement. (25%)
- Explore and analyze additional data sources to develop fuller picture of constituent journeys and inform strategy. (15%)
- Monitor industry trends and best practices. Proactively seek out, learn, and apply new technologies and methodologies to make processes more efficient. (5%)
- A minimum of 3 years of direct experience analyzing web analytics in the implementation and measurement of digital products.
- Experience with philanthropic, outcomes-driven, organizations strongly preferred.
- Exhaustive knowledge of and professional experience using and applying Google Analytics data and SEO techniques
- Proficiency in Google Tag Manager
- Ability to convert unstructured user behavioral data to insights about which products and content can improve
- Creativity in and understanding of research design to guide iterations toward optimal user experiences (e.g., A/B Testing)
- Proficiency in related testing tools
- Ability to manually retrieve data from SQL/PostgreSQL databases and other similar data repositories
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with individuals across all levels.
