Provides support for the development and execution of desktop engineering strategies and solutions spanning all of ITS and impacting all AARP business groups.  Collaborates with IT colleagues and other key stakeholders to meet goals and to achieve end user computing strategic objectives.  Liaises with new technology vendors and suppliers and internal and external business partners.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Performs desktop engineering services to enable stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the desktop environment and SCCM environment.
  • Administers engineering processes and ensures adherence to appropriate quality standards.
  • Assists in evaluating the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develops and implements strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.
  • Performs technical reviews and evaluation of new technology projects and solutions within AARP.
  • Provides Level 3 problem resolution and manages escalation for complex IT incidents.
  • Creates and maintains documentation as it relates to configuration, mapping, processes, and service records.
  • Monitors and tests system performance and prepares and delivers system performance statistics and reports.
  • Assists in the assessment of new technology and business trends in order to help deliver cost-effective solutions and services in support of AARP’s strategic and operational business plans.
  • Maintains a comprehensive knowledge of current trends and developments and provides recommendations to management on IT technology and issues to build better solutions that support and drive business decisions.
Educational Background: 
Completion of a Bachelor’s or equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field and 3+ years of related experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Experience in desktop engineering and strong knowledge of hardware and software technology.
