Amnesty International USA (AIUSA) seeks an Administrative Assistant to assist the Government Relations/Advocacy team for a time-limited term of up to four months. The ideal applicant will start no later than February 2019 with a position end date of May 2019. S/He will have the opportunity to work across units at AIUSA to assist with the planning, organizing, and implementation of AIUSA’s Lobby Day, to be held in early May. S/He will assist with participant registration, travel, and logistics along with interfacing with both internal and external AIUSA audiences towards all aspects of planning and implementing the event. S/He will have a strong attention to detail, be a self-starter, organized, and comfortable and experienced interfacing with the public. S/He will be given other duties as assigned within the Government Relations/Advocacy unit.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Provides key support for overall event management.
  • Assist with the registration process for event applicants, to include tracking and organizing applicant’s registrations while ensuring timely replies.
  • Assist with booking travel arrangements and assist in hotel coordination for all participants.
  • Assist in fielding questions and inquiries from AIUSA membership.
  • Assist in organizing meetings both internally and externally.
  • Proactively assist in handling any arising issues and troubleshoot emerging problems
Skills/Experience: 
  • Previous experience organizing and supporting events strongly preferred
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and achieve results on tight deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to work across teams to achieve results
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written skills.
  • Positive attitude, resourceful nature, and excellent problem-solving capabilities
  • Strong IT skills preferred; Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Very limited night and weekend work will be required
