VP Enterprise Strategy, Social Impact Agenda

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Enterprise Strategy, the VP Enterprise Strategy Social Impact Agenda leads a team of highly experienced strategy professionals and is responsible for driving the strategic thinking, planning and execution in the social impact Issue Areas and Strategic Priorities. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Manage and lead team of Strategy Directors and a strategy analyst.
  • Lead the alignment of enterprise goals and strategies to execution roadmaps
  • Directly provide hands-on strategy support to two or more Issue Areas/Strategic Priorities
  • Enable, educate and empower leads and matrix teams on effective strategy and execution
  • Lead and facilitate planning and alignment across the enterprise
  • Shape emerging opportunities
  • Partner with SVP, Enterprise Strategy to provide Board and CEO support
  • Special projects based on other key areas of strategic interest to AARP as identified and assigned
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Business or related field required; Master’s Degree desired. 
Skills/Experience: 
  • 5+ years of job related experience; in-depth knowledge of finance, marketing and business development function; experience leading and managing a high performance team of experienced strategy professionals.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and planning skills and the ability to communicate strategic plans to the team and others. 
  • Ability to influence all levels of management. 
  • Proven ability to lead effectively in a matrix environment, contribute to cross-functional efforts.  Demonstrated ability to collaborate across the enterprise in an extremely complex organization.  Ability to gain internal respect and build consensus from superiors, peers and subordinates.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal instruction; a self-starter with a strong work ethic and a desire to go the extra mile.
  • A desire to aggressively further goals in an innovative, collaborative manner.
  • Flexibility and ability to work fast under tight deadlines with demanding quality requirements.
  • Ability to effectively leverage company resources, including employees, at all levels to maximize the results against plan. Strong cross-functional and implementation experience in all core corporate functions.  Ability to mobilize resources across all needed functions at AARP to achieve superior results via collaboration.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external partners and business partners at all levels and in a manner that supports AARP’s mission and strategic position in the marketplace.
