National Geographic seeks a dynamic individual to assist with the daily operations of its Public Programs division. Serving as the face of the National Geographic Museum, NG Live! Programs, and special events, this individual will ensure a high-quality and efficient experience for all visitor. Representatives will handle ticketing operations, customer service, and provide additional educational opportunities featuring National Geographic content as needed. Hours will vary including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Learn and efficiently operates point of sale ticketing software in order to successfully sell and scan tickets for Public Programs including but not limited to Museum and NGLive exhibitions and events both in person and over the phone. (30%)
  • Manages crowd control and visitor traffic flow with the ability to anticipate opportunities to assist visitors and allow for as smooth an operation as possible. (30%)
  • Provides information on way finding, facilities and other experience related questions to visitors in person and over the phone. (20%) Responds to and resolves customer complaints and concerns, calling upon a Supervisor when needed. (10%)
  • Assist with interpretative programming to enrich visitor experience including but not limited to tours, drop-in programs, and birthday parties. (10%)
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Skills/Experience: 

Minimum Years and Type of Experience

  • 6+ months of experience working with visitors and/or customers preferably in a museum, theater, or similar box office setting.

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate well in public settings. Flexibility and positivity in dealing with new experiences and people. Experience with, or ability to learn and use databases and ticketing software. Ability to spend at least half the day walking/standing in public spaces. Available to work weekend, holiday, and evening hours.
