This new position is being added to Audubon’s Human Resources team at a time of exciting growth and expansion. The Talent Acquisition Manager will be the subject matter expert on all things recruitment and employment related and partner with senior leaders and HR colleagues to source the talent needed to fulfill our mission and meet the goals and objectives of our Strategic Plan. As a strong collaborator, The TA Manager will guide the recruitment efforts of all professional and senior level positions, determining the best way to find top talent from a wide array of sources.
S/he will team up with HR colleagues on recruitment needs to promote organizational growth and development, and also be assigned special projects that educate others, streamline processes, and build upon the Department’s areas of interest, including Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (ED&I).
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly organized and dedicated professional interested in overseeing both mid- and senior-level openings in the areas of program management, fundraising, science, policy/advocacy, grassroots organizing, education and infrastructure. Ideal candidates will be based in the Washington, DC area, although New York City will also be considered as a work location.
- Consult and partner with local hiring managers/program leaders on all searches, up to and including senior level positions; engage in full lifecycle recruiting by sourcing candidates, screening resumes, conducting interviews and overseeing the selection process from start to finish. Responsible for managing applicant flow information and ensuring successful and timely onboarding of new employees as well.
- Write, edit and classify job descriptions appropriately; along with other HR leads, coach hiring managers on staffing needs to help build sustainable programs and departments.
- Responsible for developing strong relationships with managers and senior leaders; become a trusted advisor.
- Research and develop areas to expand Audubon’s recruitment practices, to include developing new sources/contacts for diversifying recruitment; represent the department at various career fairs and professional networking functions, when needed.
- Stay abreast of employment law changes and workplace best practice(s) related to recruiting and onboarding new employees; recommend updates to Audubon policies and procedures.
- Contribute to and lead special projects in the areas of recruitment, onboarding, and Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (ED&I).
- Create and conduct in-person and web-based recruitment/onboarding trainings for staff; function as a resource for hiring teams and provide guidance when needed.
- Monitor applicant tracking system analytics and share information on important measurements, including time-to-fill, sourcing effectiveness, candidate details, and point-in-time filled jobs. As needed, provide data to both the Office of the General Counsel and Audubon’s third party payroll organization to fulfill Affirmative Action and Equal Employment Opportunity reporting requirements each year.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field and 4-5 years of professional experience sourcing, selecting and hiring candidates required. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
- Demonstrated expertise in recruitment best practices; comfort leading searches at all levels, creatively sourcing candidates and partnering with management in order to attract strong, diverse talent.
- Proven track record of developing strong relationships with clients in a decentralized organization; experience working in the nonprofit realm a plus.
- A self-starter with a team-focused attitude, one with excellent problem-solving, judgment and decision-making abilities.
- Comfort working independently in a fast-paced environment; excellent time management, organizational and interpersonal skills required.
- Takes a detail-oriented approach to work, and possesses excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Must be technically proficient in a variety of software, to include Microsoft Office products, applicant tracking systems, HR information systems, and web-based training tools. Proficiency with iCIMS and/or experience as a super user/administrator a plus.
- Professional in Human Resources (PHR) Certification desired, but not required.
- A flexible approach to work, including committing to occasional work travel throughout the year.
- Genuine interest in conservation, the environment and the mission of the National Audubon Society a must.
