Manage projects and experiences for National Geographic education programs and networks that align to division goals.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Manages projects that support educator programs and networks at the National Geographic Society: Develops project goals and steps to accomplish them. Sets and maintains timelines and deliverables. Develops and implements communications plans, materials, events and other activities to support projects. While reporting to the Director of Education Programs, the specialist collaborates with Education colleagues and other NGS departments to integrate projects into larger Society goals. (30%)
- Collaborates with educator network team and partners: Organizes and attends group meetings, and manages notes and follow-up items. Maintains communication with partners, participants and stakeholders. Works with and facilitates communication between all project team members and stakeholders. (30%)
- Develops and tracks project schedules and documentation, and tracks expenses for project budgets: Develops, edits, acquires and assembles needed assets into completed projects. Tracks, collects data, analyzes and reports on project metrics. Monitors and tracks budgets, documentation and timelines for the work of a larger team. Supports budget tracking, legal documentation, invoices and payments. (15%)
- Manages the production, administration and/or distribution of business and marketing documents, project and grant proposals, reports, presentations, and other materials: Develops and maintains schedule for all such documentation and ensures timely and complete submission. Represents National Geographic at conferences, presentations and meetings as needed. (15%)
- Develops professional skills: Keeps track of trends, research and updates in related fields and industries. Monitors peer sites and industry publications and reports, presentations and other materials. Stays current with NGS mission, research, initiatives and media and assists the team in leveraging these assets. Other duties as assigned. (10%)
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree. Master's degree preferred.
Skills/Experience:
Minimum Years and Type of Experience
- 3+ years of experience preferred in non-profit and/or education
- Experience with and understanding of education systems and educators K-16 with knowledge in geography, environmental education, science or social studies education
