The Senior Director of Learning & Development and Diversity & Inclusion will lead and execute an integrated learning and development strategy. You will work collaboratively to play an integral role in cultivating a learning environment that increases employee engagement and aligns with the goals and strategic priorities of NPR. You will partner with leaders to ensure effective diversity & inclusion practices and change management methodology are embedded into the culture of NPR and into every phase of the employee experience.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Partner with the HR leadership team to establish a new Leadership Architect integrated competency framework that will serve as underpinning to all other HR functions, programs, and initiatives
  • Lead innovative employee engagement programs and activities partnering with NPR leaders and HR (mentoring program, etc.)
  • Work with HRBPs, Recrutiers and Comp/Ben  partners to craft Employee Engagement and Pulse Surveys that will provide significant data which supports the design and execution of all HR programs and initiatives
  • Lead employee engagement initiatives, collaborating with the organization and human resources team
  • Partner with external resources on training curriculum
  • Facilitate company-wide training on a variety of topics
  • Design and implement the job foundation for career pathing and employee development in partnership with the Compensation lead
  • Utilize standard methodology to create individual development plans and ensure development is aligned with plans for key leaders
  • Develop methodology to identify successors at top leadership levels; institute talent review sessions; use the 9-box to identify high potentials
  • Partner with teams to help ensure NPR attracts, develops, and retains diverse employees to create and maintain a an employer of choice designation
  • Develop and execute a Diversity & Inclusion strategy integrated into all talent management functions and programs
  • Expand Employee Resource Groups (ERG) community
Educational Background: 
BA/BS degree; MBA or Master’s degree in related field preferred
Skills/Experience: 
  • Strategic leader with strong business partner sensibilities
  • Able to help shape culture and support the organization in shifting through change
  • Minimum eight years’ learning and development experience, managing all stages of the L&D lifecycle: needs analysis, design, delivery and evaluation
  • Experience in leading cultural transformation and implementing diversity and inclusion programs to drive a high-performance workforce
  • A strong customer focus and ability to effectively and quickly form relationships and establish trust, respect, competence and confidence with the internal team members and business leadership
  • Established track record of helping employees become the best they can be by crafting and delivering creative and effective development offerings to a diverse workforce
  • Familiar with established competency models such as the Korn Ferry (Lominger) Leadership Architect as the foundation
  • Thrive in a dynamic creative and production environment
  • Demonstrate and cultivate curiosity to build the best tools, content and programs
  • Intrinsically motivated to help others develop and grow
  • Ability to develop creative solutions that address relevant and changing business needs
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills at all levels in the organization including senior leadership
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills
  • Experience successfully mentoring business leaders
  • Broad experience and knowledge of standard methodologies in learning and development and talent management
  • High degree of organization with excellent project management skills
  • Able to quickly learn (and self-teach) new technologies; experience with e-learning tools; LMS and other innovative learning practices
  • Self-awareness with a high EQ (emotional quotient) and as intuitive driven as business savvy
  • Previous experience in the media industry strongly preferred
  • Qualified/certified in 360 instruments
  • Self-starter with the ability to pivot and can handle a diverse set of initiatives
  • Position is in DC to/from the Los Angeles and New York offices as needed
