The Control Room Operator/ Security officer on an assigned shift is responsible for the operational control of the security program in connection with protecting the organizations personnel, contractors and visitors. This position is considered essential (24/7) and person will be required to come to or remain at work during emergency situations to assure proper coverage.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Ensure contractor's maintenance of training and qualification specifications for assigned officers. Uphold and maintain onsite training objectives of contract officers to ensure the accuracy and priorities in different trainers. Assure assigned officers receive proper and complete training (40 hours minimum). (20%)
- Monitor and audit performance activities of contract officers to ensure the job requirements are being met and departmental operations are current and running properly. Ensure required number of site trained officers have reported for duty and coordinate with contract agency any discrepancies. Brief and assign post to contract officers at the beginning of the shift. (20%)
- Issue identification badges and assign or deactivate access as needed. Responsible for receiving and responding to emails as well as properly maintaining the identification badge database to include taking picture ID's. Maintain non-staff registry notifications and respond appropriately to Human Resources new hires and termination notices. (20%)
- Write incident, accident, theft and shift log reports occurring during the assigned shift to include investigation and follow up actions. Maintain employee and visitor parking records. Retrieve information from security database for periodic reports and audits. (20%)
- Answer telephones, monitor camera activity and maintain communication with security personnel via two way radio. Oversee and insure proper function of all security equipment. Operate and utilize Control Center equipment to include CCTV operation and controls and video recording/playback. Make decisions in emergency situations in the absence of management. (20%)
Educational Background:
High school diploma or equivalent.

Minimum Years and Type of Experience
- 2+ years experience in security, law enforcement or military.
Knowledge and Skills Required
- Must have a valid driver's license and be able to obtain a DC Special Police Officer (SPO) License. Supervisory experience, proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel programs, digital recording devices and electronic camera monitoring systems. Strong verbal and written communication, as well as good customer service skills are a must.
