Job Title: Program Assistant
Department: Programs
Reports To: Program Training Director
Context: Provides program, issue and administrative support functions for training program
Scope: Works with Training Team to organize and coordinate training events and activities. Supports Director in managing training budget. Serves as logistics point person for training activities and materials production. Assists in researching, writing and editing of training curriculum. Serves as a co-trainer at trainings when needed. Tracks trainings happening in other parts of the organization and produces a quarterly calendar of upcoming trainings. Coordinates the development and administration of an online training platform.
Job Activities:
- Provides logistics and operations support for training program
- Assists with managing training budget and tracks spending
- Researches and identifies training locations
- Manages contracts with venues and vendors
- Oversees materials production
- Supports travel and hotel room logistics for participants at training events
- Program Assistant assists in development and implementation of training program including :
- Coordination of trainings and workshops
- Coordinates production of training materials
- Curates online training platform
- Uploads resources to online training platform
- Research and writing of curriculum
- Performs other duties as assigned
Standard Overtime:
The standard Sierra Club work week is 37.5 hours. However, this job requires occasional overtime to meet special deadlines, projects, other staff absences, or emergencies. Under these circumstances, overtime will rarely exceed 5 hours weekly, or 15 hours on a monthly basis.

- Demonstrated commitment to environmental protection

- Ability to work collaboratively with managers, staff and volunteers throughout the organization
- Ability to work well in a fast moving environment
- Proficiency in databases to track and manage data
- Ability to work with google applications
- Proficiency working with excel spreadsheets
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Strong verbal communication and presentation skills
Experience Required:
- 2 years experience working in administrative capacity providing logistical support and coordination
- Experience managing and tracking budget variances
- Experience with training and education desirable but not required
This position is represented by a collective bargaining unit and is subject to the terms and conditions of the contract between Sierra Club and Progressive Workers Union.
