NRDC is seeking a Program Assistant to work with the China, Health and Energy/Transportation teams in our Washington DC office. Although primarily an administrative position, this job also offers opportunities for a qualified candidate to pursue substantive work relating to climate, energy and environmental issues in China and elsewhere.
Areas of Responsibility:
(Administrative – China, Health, and Energy & Transportation)
- Processes and tracks invoices, contract agreements, grants, and budgets
- Coordinates with finance, development, IT, and other support departments to ensure smooth running of program work
- Coordinates and books travel and prepares itineraries
- Proofreads and edits correspondences and various documents including blogs, factsheets, and other materials
- Copies, scans and distributes documents
- Organizes and participates in weekly and monthly calls
(China)
- Manages budgets
- Curates relevant news stories on China on a daily basis
- Assists in researching, drafting, and publishing blogs
- Prepares PowerPoint presentations
- Assists in fundraising efforts and creating donor reports
- Manages the recruitment and supervision of interns and volunteers
- Attends external China-related meetings and events to take notes and share programmatic activities
- Manages the China Program’s Twitter account and assists the Asia Director with their account
- Provides research support as needed
(Health)
- Manages budget
- Assists in researching, drafting, and publishing blogs
- Prepares PowerPoint presentations
- Assists in fundraising efforts and creating donor reports
(Energy & Transportation)
- Coordinates with other E&T program assistants on budget and grant tracking
Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required;
- Previous administrative and research experience highly desired;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Must have strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with the capacity to juggle and prioritize multiple tasks;
- Must exercise good judgment and have the ability to work with complete autonomy and with flexible hours;
- Ability to work well under pressure;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint;
- Proficiency with social media, graphic design software, and HTML a plus;
- Fluency in Mandarin Chinese a plus;
- Understanding of China climate, energy and environmental issues a plus.
