The Event Producer will be a part of the Events and Sponsorship team and help to conceive and manage domestic and international events. She/he will provide 360-degree planning, production, and live direction for thought leader conferences and curated events of various sizes and scopes. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter and team player with a creative vision and a proven track record of managing numerous event components to produce compelling experiences.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Event Planning & Production. Proactively and independently manage the planning, production and live direction of small and large-scale invite-only events. Work collaboratively with colleagues within the department and across the Society and with external organizations, clients, talent, and vendors, to ensure successful execution and follow up. Run rehearsals, manage talent and stage produce live events. Manage and lead production teams, assign tasks, maintain clear road maps and schedules, anticipate needs and potential roadblocks to ensure each event achieves the quality expected of this brand and outcomes defined for success. (40%)
  •  Creative Development. Collaborate with Science & Exploration and Impact Marketing teams to identify event concepts which further programmatic objectives and to identify speakers and talent from within and outside the organization. Produce supporting media in collaboration with marketing team. (50%)
  • Communications. Represent Events and Sponsorship team at meetings of all levels within and outside the organization. Regularly and clearly communicate event schedule and goals. Coordinate calendar with all relevant departments. Work enthusiastically and collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the strategic goals of the Society are met. (10%)
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree.
Skills/Experience: 

Minimum Years and Type of Experience

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience producing events from concept to completion for diverse global audiences. Background in event production or broadcast or video/television production or related creative industry a plus.

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Experience planning and producing events. Experience managing staff and talent and working with staff across platforms and departments. Must be organized, proactive, professional, and able to multi-task and prioritize effectively. Should be self-motivated and have the ability to anticipate situational needs, learn and recognize priorities in a dynamic and shifting environment of changing schedules and itineraries. Must have sound judgment and discretion while dealing with internal and external staff and talent. Prior experiences with digital assets and social media engagement. Expertise in computer programs for presentations, scheduling, and budgeting, as well as experience stage producing a plus.
