Wounded Warrior Project’s (WWP) outreach coordinator is responsible for assisting the WWP Alumni program’s efforts to provide support, networking opportunities, and education to new and existing WWP Alumni and their families around the country, to include military installations, local communities and possible emphasis in Military Treatment Facilities (MTF’s).
Areas of Responsibility:
- Connect, serve, and empower the Alumni, family support members and teammates around the country
- Develop and maintain working relationships with health care and social service providers
- Work within DoD, VBA, and VHA offices to ensure that the wounded and their family’s needs are met in a timely and professional manner
- Develop and maintain relationships with military-focused nonprofits and community groups
- Understand, contribute to, and promote the mission of WWP
- Actively plan, coordinate, recruit, and execute opportunities for networking, camaraderie building, and family bonding for WWP Alumni and their family members
- Locate warriors and their family members that have not yet had contact with WWP and introduce WWP’s programs and services
- Serve as a point of contact for WWP Alumni and their family members, referring them to appropriate WWP programs, staff, and other resources
- Regularly communicate, network, mentor, and outreach to WWP Alumni and their family members in area of responsibility
- Support WWP by acting as a representative at events; develop community support and speak on behalf of WWP through outreach/awareness opportunities
- Post timely updates to all WWP electronic tracking systems, specifically the warrior database (Salesforce)
- Support and work collaboratively with other program staff to develop and execute events for Alumni and family support members
- Assist in the execution of Peer Support Groups and Warrior Leader events
- Assist Manager with assigned budget while utilizing expense controls and seeking cost-saving opportunities
- If collocated near Medical Treatment Facilities or VA poly-trauma units additional responsibilities may include:
- Represent Wounded Warrior Project in the military facilities where the wounded receive treatment
- Meet warriors at bedside; work directly with the wounded and their family members to assist with the recovery and transition process
- Other related duties as assigned
Educational Background:
High School Diploma/GED required, Associate’s Degree preferred

Experience Requirements
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with military or veteran populations preferred
- Minimum of one (1) year experience with the military theater medical evacuation process preferred
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in relationship-building with military organizations, veterans associations, and other targeted constituents preferred
- Minimum of one (1) year experience using Microsoft Office products required
- Minimum of one (1) year experience event planning preferred
- Minimum two (2) year experience with military treatment facilities/VA facilities and/or military medical separation/retirement process preferred
- Must be able to travel 25% - 50% of the time
Certifications & Licensure
- Valid state-issued driver’s license required
