NRDC is hiring a federal Legislative Advocate to work with the Center for Policy Advocacy department’s Government Affairs team in our Washington, DC office to increase our presence and effectiveness on Capitol Hill.
- Advocate NRDC's federal policy agenda before Congress.
- Work with NRDC programs to help develop their legislative strategy and to implement it.
- Prepare materials that will be used to inform and persuade decision-makers on Capitol Hill.
- Conduct legislative research.
- Respond to inquiries from Capitol Hill.
- Help develop and work with coalitions to enhance advocacy before Congress.
- This is not an entry level position. Must possess at least three years of Hill or association advocacy experience, preferably with strong emphasis on environmental issues, or significant experience in other positions that involve working closely with Congress. Preferred experience range is 4-6 years.
- Strong interpersonal skills and comfort with advocacy.
- Excellent written and oral communication abilities.
