YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is looking for a Lead Billing Specialist!


 The YMCA is one of the largest social service agencies serving Washington D.C., suburban Maryland and northern Virginia. We have a career opportunity for a Lead Membership Billing Specialist. The Y is looking for a new team member with strong interpersonal skills and work ethic to join our organization. Areas of Responsibility: 

Some of the exciting things you will do as a Lead Membership Billing Specialist include but are not limited to:

  • Leading the membership/program billing accuracy and collections responsibilities
  • Adheres to proper internal controls along with policies and procedures within the strategic plan of the department
  • Responsible for customer satisfaction both internally and externally as well as demonstrate a commitment to the Y's core values-Honesty, Caring, Respect, and Responsibility
  • Train new team members and serve as a team lead
  • Accurately process payments in Protivity for all members
  • Reviews accounts receivable on a regular basis to ensure that all accounts are up to date; takes immediate corrective action as needed
  • Audit billing records and provide reports
  • Performs draft error report corrections on a bi-monthly basis
  • Performs collections process on draft returns on a bi-monthly basis
  • Processes refunds, adjustments and corrections to all accounts according to policy and procedures established
  • Generate weekly reports for general ledger and accounts receivables

Skills/Experience: 
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in an accounting/finance environment, and some college credits are preferred but not required in a related field of Business, Accounting, or Finance
  • Strong phone communication skills
  • Be able to work with computers for long periods of time
  • Ability to have schedule availability during critical accounting deadlines
  • Be able to prioritize, troubleshoot and multitask in a fast paced environment while meeting critical deadlines
